NEW [LASAL BOOKS] BOOKSHOP-LIBRARY OPENING IN THE MARCO

From this Friday 25 March, MARCO, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vigo, revives a key space and expands services offered to its visitors. A new bookshop-library project, in collaboration with LASAL BOOKS, will be located in the main hall.

LASAL BOOKS

Iria Costas, a trained graphic designer and Luis Toba, a photographer, are the brains behind LASAL BOOKS. Both of them have lived in Vigo for many years, and are brought together by a passion for culture and books.

In LASAL BOOKS one can find books on art, architecture, photography, design and illustration. Rather than dry text books, they provide carefully bound art books which are a feast for the eyes. Special editions and copies signed by their authors are also available.

“We launched this project almost a year ago on the Internet through the lasalbooks.com webpage. Although we wanted a physical location, we had never imagined that it would happen so soon. It was an idea for the long term future, but a quirk of fate crossed MARCO’s path and ours, luckily for us (or them).

We want this bookshop to be a place for lovers of books, art, and culture. A place where visitors can see and touch the books but also where we will try to answer their questions, make recommendations, and give our best.

Not only we are opening a bookshop, but we also aim to act as another invigorating element within the cultural centre that is the MARCO. A historical, monumental building where you can enjoy great exhibitions, a library for further research, a café for informal gatherings while having a delicious coffee. And now, at last, a key bookshop in the subject of art.
